Action items/meeting minutes from June 16

In attendance: Eric Bernard, Rick Chubb, Dave Debusman, Rebecca Gould

  1. Discussed additional members. Rebecca emailed Brad DeGrott, Denis Mederios, Brian Niehoff, Kevin Gwinner and Dale Blasi and asked if they would like to participate or would appoint someone to participate in the SWAT. Dr. Gwinner is considering an individual. Dale will likely serve but was out of town this week.
  2. The SWAT website is: 129.130.39.199/
    Action item: Eric will send the GIS PowerPoint overview to Rick to be placed on the website.
    Rick will get pictures of the Fort Riley tour and pictures of classrooms at Santa Barbara on the website. Rick also will put a link to an overview PDF for the GIS space on the website and a link to a Penn State document on "Classroom & Technology Design & Construction Minimum Requirements" for their university http://clc.its.psu.edu/classrooms/Design/.
  3. Discussed the plan for future meetings:
    1. Provide a very quick tour of the existing GISSAL so that everyone understands space requirements, storage needs, size of equipment, orientation needs, etc
    2. Show examples of some existing space that we have toured.
    3. Take the various space plans that the proposal writers have developed for Seaton 305 and 306 and identify the best arrangement to meet the vision, uses, functions, etc.
    4. Assign individuals to collect cost data.
    5. Draft the proposal.
    6. Circulate the proposal among the GIScience SWAT team.
    7. Circulate the proposal to the GIS Steering Committee.
    8. Submit proposal to Dr. Unger on September 1.
